Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands today opened the Keukenhof Gardens for the season by "baptizing" a new hybrid tulip in an official ceremony. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the famous bulb gardens, as well as the NY400 celebrations in the Netherlands, which the park will mark with various US-themed displays throughout the landscape. The Keukenhof will remain open until May 21, 2009.
Be sure to see my gallery of photos from the Keukenhof, as well as my Guide to Tulip Time in Holland.
