Enjoy Google Street Views of Amsterdam
Monday April 20, 2009
I don't know about you, but I'm addicted to using the "Street View" feature from Google Maps. And now there's only more fuel for my fixation: the recent addition of several Amsterdam areas.
Now you can see the idyllic canals and old brick-paved streets for yourself (I have to tip my hat to the person whose idea it was to take the digital shots in the summer; they make for much nicer photos). The I amsterdam portal to the city -- a joint effort of several different groups in Amsterdam, including the tourist board -- has made it easy to browse the Brouwersgracht and pan around the Prinsengracht (two of my favorite canals) with a map of the digitized Amsterdam areas. Just scroll down and select the "Street View" button to activate the tool. Happy exploring!
