Get out and Find 'Roots' in Amsterdam!

By June 10, 2009

Follow me on:

One of Amsterdam's most-anticipated summer festivals, the Amsterdam Roots Festival, will be held Sunday, June 21.

As much as I'm looking forward to it, I'm sad to see that Roots has fallen victim to funding cuts. The historically week-long program has been shaved down to just the one-day Roots Open Air event. The line-up of world music and dance performed in the open air still promises to please with an all-day ethnic celebration...and it's still FREE! Join the 50,000 fans who flock to find -- and support -- Roots in Amsterdam every year.

Amsterdam Roots Festival
  • When: Sunday, June 21, 12 noon - 9:30 p.m.
  • What: An all day celebration of world music, food and culture.
  • Where: Oosterpark
  • Why: IT'S FREE! Two main stages feature several non-western DJs and musical groups; other highlights include the Dancecourt, the "Kids@Roots" program and the park-wide Wereldmarkt ("World Market").
For more information on the day's full line-up, see the Amsterdam Roots Festival website.
