Get set for Grid2010, the fourth edition of this wildly popular international photo biennial. From September 27 to November 7, exhibitions, workshops and symposia will take over dozens of venues in Amsterdam, as well as in the nearby cities of Haarlem, Zaanstad, Amstelveen and Almere. Artists hail from 25 countries; 400,000 enthusiasts from the Netherlands and abroad are expected to turn out -- more than half the population of Amsterdam!
Final ticket information is still to be announced, but you can browse the list of participants and locations on the official Grid2010 web site.
Grid2010 is the initiative of the Foundation Amsterdam Photo, which sponsors year-round, kid-centric educational workshops in the Cultuurhuis Diamantslijperij, a cultural center located in a monumental diamond cutters' workshop.
Won't be around for the Grid? Amsterdam also has two perennial photography museums:
- Foam Photography Museum Amsterdam - Foam intertwines major exhibitions from world-renowned artists with showcases of up-and-comers.
- Huis Marseille Museum for Photography - The first photo museum in Amsterdam, housed in a monumental 17th-century merchant's house.
