Amsterdam in June | Amsterdam Travel by Month | Amsterdam in August >

July, much like the rest of the summer, bodes fair weather and a tremendous number of seasonal festivals and events for visitors. The popularity of Amsterdam as a summer holiday destination means that the city will be more crowded now than at other times of year; expect to see this reflected at attractions, restaurants and cafes, and airports and train stations. But the influx of visitors doesn't have to hamper the fun; just allow extra time for travel, and remember, wait times can often be bypassed with reservations (at restaurants) or advance tickets (at attractions).

  • July is Amsterdam's warmest month -- optimal for days on the beach or on sunny cafe terraces -- but keep your umbrella close, as it's also the third-rainiest month of the year

  • The sun rises early (before 6 a.m.) and sets late (after 9:30 p.m.) this time of year

  • July is chock full of some of the year's most anticipated summer festivals and events (see below!)

  • Peak tourist season is in full effect: airfare and accommodations are pricier than in the low season (September - March), and the most desirable hotels and hostels must be booked well in advance

  • Touristic hot spots like the Anne Frank House and Museum Quarter attractions have increased wait times; avoid the queues with online tickets and/or the I amsterdam card

  • Amsterdam in summer, with its humid days and city-wide waterways, is an ideal environment for mosquitoes. Be prepared with insect repellent and an itch relief remedy

July Weather

  • Average high: 71°F (21.7°C)
  • Average low: 53°F (11.7°C)
  • Average precipitation: 3 in (76.2 mm)
