Rieker Windmill, South of Amsterdam

As you head out of Amsterdam along the bike path following the Amstel River, you'll come upon the windmill De Rieker, one of the eight windmills of greater Amsterdam. Built in 1636 to help drain water out of the surrounding reclaimed land (called polders), the Rieker windmill is now a private family home.
