The "All-in-One Ticket" -- to be sold for a test period between July 23 and October 31, 2008 -- includes admission for city trams, buses and the underground Metro, plus return trip between Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport and Centraal Station.
Until now visitors have had to buy separate tickets for the journey between the airport and central Amsterdam (on trains operated by Dutch Railways, or NS) and the transport lines once they got there (on the trams, buses and Metro operated by GVB). Admittedly, both systems' ticketing can be especially confusing for visitors, who are unfamiliar with the process. The All-in-One Ticket should alleviate such confusion (of course, you still have to pick the right lines, but there has to be some adventure involved, right?).
Details of the All-in-One Ticket
- The train portion of the ticket (Dutch Railways, or NS) is good for one return trip only between Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam Centraal Station.
- The GVB portion of the ticket is good for rides on all Amsterdam trams, buses (including night buses) and underground Metro lines.
- Visitors can only purchase the All-in-One Ticket at the Holland Tourist Information desk at Schiphol Airport (across from Arrivals 2; open daily 7 a.m, - 10 p.m.).
- Tickets come in time increments of 24 hours (€ 12.95), 48 hours (€ 17), 72 hours (€ 19.70) and 96 hours (€ 22.40).
- The combination ticket prices do represent a cost savings over buying individual separate tickets.
